The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are to pay an official visit to Germany in May at the request of the British government, as Brexit negotiations continue.
The Royal visit will see the couple celebrate the shared ties between the UK and Germany, and meet with politicians already confirmed to include President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
While members of the Royal Family are bound by convention to avoid all matters party political, the trip will see the Prince and Duchess visit Germany at a moment when all eyes are on ongoing Brexit negotiations.
Royal visits, which are at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, are often viewed as an example of “soft power”, emphasising the importance of the host country and its people to Britain.
The trip, from May 7 to 10, will see the Prince and Duchess visit Berlin, Leipzig and Munich.
